The College Act of Remembrance was a poignant occasion looking back on the centenary of Armistice Day.
Dr Henderson, ATC Squadron Commander, opened by reading Wilfred Owen’s “Anthem for Doomed Youth”. Year 12 student Amelie Dobson then read her own poem “No Victors”, written as part of the ABC Council WWI commemoration poetry project for schools.
As a special focus on RAF 100, Head Boy Chris Thornbury recounted the story of Squadron Leader Geoffrey Wellum, who was the youngest Spitfire pilot to fly in the Battle of Britain.
Mr Robinson and Mr Richardson conducted the Act of Remembrance, with Molly Sommerville on bagpipes as members of the ATC laid the wreath. Leah Badger sounded the Last Post indicating the minute silence followed by The Rouse.
