Massive credit to PC U16s following their hard fought 2-1 NI Cup quarter final win over a strong De La Salle side at Solitude on Tuesday afternoon.

Leading 1-0 at half-time after Calum Coert’s opener, the College lads knew that they would have to withstand mounting second half pressure as the Belfast side tried to carve out an equaliser, but a disciplined and resolute performance from Neill, Cartwright, McIvor and Morgan at the back as well as constant closing down from the midfield three created belief in the ranks that the victory was within reach.

Murphy’s dead ball deliveries began to trouble the De La Salle defence late in the second half and when Coert latched on to a knock down to rifle home PC were on the brink of a second semi-final spot in NI School’s premier competition for the second time in two years.

A late goal for De La Salle made it 2-1 but PC held out in the final frantic minutes to progress to the semi-final next week v St.Columb’s (Derry).

Well done boys; a super performance and a great result!
