PC Journalism took part in the BBC ACADEMY’S DIGITAL CITIES “SCHOOL REPORT GOES DIGITAL STUDENT DAY” at The University of Ulster in Belfast on Thursday 16th November.

Year 13 students Emily Monroe, Nye Crozier accompanied by Jay Davey and Ben Gibbons from Year 11 attended the event, where they learned much about digital journalism.

From hands on Digital Journalism workshop with BBC Journalist Michael Hirst to a Smartphone filming workshop, students got to pitch their stories to the BBC, and create their own news packages using smartphones.

In addition, a presentation on Cinemagic, promoting a range of apprenticeship opportunities and a question and answer session with a 17-year-old BBC apprentice gave our students an insight into the opportunities available to students with digital skills.
