Portadown College were delighted to have achieved the title of Top School in Northern Ireland in the 2017 British Biology Olympiad.  The Olympiad is a competition run by the institute of Biology, the professional body for Biology and this year over 7,500 top biologist throughout the UK took part.  The award was presented to Matthew Gillespie and Viggo Stanczak at the Education Awards Ceremony in the IET Savoy Place in London during the summer/in July.  Matthew and Viggo were present to also personally collect their gold awards from the Biology Challenge, which they had obtained earlier in the year.

The ceremony included a talk by Tim Birkhead, professor at the University of Sheffield, on animal behaviour and the history of Science.
