On 10th and 11th March, 9 cadets from 814 (Portadown College) ATC, attended a Duke of Edinburgh training weekend at JHC Aldergrove, ahead of their expeditions in May and September. Cadets were taught how to read a map and make a route card, as well as other things such as how to pitch a tent. On Sunday afternoon, cadets were given the chance to go on a practice walk in Tardree Forest. The training was held on an active military base, so cadets were given the chance to experience a small bit of life on base and eat in a mess. The Air Training Corps is the only organisation in school that offers Duke of Edinburgh bronze award.

It is with extreme sadness that the Portadown College community pays tribute to our esteemed Principal Simon Harper who has passed away.
