On Thursday 15 March PC A level French students took part in the NICILT A Level French language debate at Queen’s University Belfast. Captained by Sara Martins (Year 14) the team debated against St.Patrick’s GS (Armagh) in the fifth of five inter-school debates adjudicated by a panel of experts from the French Department at Queen’s. Esteemed members of the Cercle Français de Belfast were also in attendance.

Sara was joined by Ben Proctor (Year 14), Emily Monroe and Zoë Alhadeff (both Year 13). The topic for the debate was ‘Les amis jouent un rôle plus important que la famille dans la vie des jeunes’ (Friends play a more important role than family in the lives of young people).

PC defeated St.Patrick’s and Sara Martins won the prize for Best Speaker. Well done PC! Congratulations to Sara in particular for a polished captain’s performance and a memorable summary speech that attracted much positive comment following the presentation of awards.
