SANTA TRAIL FOR LOCAL CHILDREN AT PORTADOWN COLLEGE

Members of Portadown College’s charity organisation, Lifeline, were busy last Christmas preparing for the arrival of Santa Claus and 186 Primary One and Primary Two pupils from local primary schools - Bocombra, Segoe and Edenderry.

Earlier this term, Lifeline organised its regular concert and supper for the senior citizens in the local area and, adopting the same ethos, they then turned their attentions to making links with the younger members of the community.  The older pupils  organised a Santa Trail at the school for P1 pupils from Bocombra and Edenderry and P1 & P2 pupils from Seagoe.

The Santa Trail  involved using computers to write letters to Santa and they were assured beforehand that they would receive a quick reply!  The children then heard the Nativity story and played party games before going off to meet a very special visitor, Father Christmas himself.  A large number of College students were busy organising the events and decorating the school, and they are grateful for donations of decorations which were received from local businesses.  The funds were raised by the pupils themselves so that the day’s activities were completely free of charge to the primary schools.

Last year was a big success and this year we hope to invite pupils from more primary schools to make sure that children in the area have a great Christmas
